Birds Sing Without Knowing It
The Daily Haiku for April 22. Birds sing without knowing it. We have forgotten.
The Daily Haiku for April 22. Birds sing without knowing it.
Gracefully. Above.
Birds sing without knowing it.
We have forgotten.
One of the most beautiful pieces from Eduardo Galeano is "El derecho al delirio" (the right to madness), in which he writes:
Se incorporará a los códigos penales el delito de estupidez que cometen quienes viven por tener o por ganar, en vez de vivir por vivir no más, como canta el pájaro sin saber que canta y como juega el niño sin saber que juega.
The translation would be something like this:
"The crime of stupidity will be incorporated into the criminal codes, committed by those who live to have or to win, instead of just living for living's sake, like the bird that sings without knowing it sings and like the child who plays without knowing they play."
We are the ones who have forgotten.
