Different Trains

The Daily Haiku for Jan 10. Different Trains.
One goes far away,
Different trains in front of me,
Another stays here.
Today's Haiku of the day is inspired by Steve Reich's piece "Different Trains" (played by the Kronos Quartet). The piece is a reflection on the childhood of the composer in America, taking trains from New York to Los Angeles to live with his separated parents during the WWII period. He argues that if he had lived in Europe at the time, he might have been taking very different trains.
In this case, I used this imagery to reflect about something different, our decisions. We are always evaluating alternatives, deciding which train to take. Many times, one of these trains takes you far away, to an exciting but scary new place, while other just leads you to a safe place nearby.
