Walking On The Street

A Daily Haiku that discusses freedom as a subtle feeling as opposed to a grand, unlimited concept.

Walking On The Street

The Daily Haiku for April 5. Walking on the street.

Walking on the street,
neon lights against dark skies,
a free man, alone.

Freedom is usually mentioned in hyperbolic terms. A grand, unlimited concept that is the ultimate goal to aspire to. As we have discussed before, that concept is a beautiful theoretical concept, but not really realistic in pragmatic terms.

Ultimately, freedom can be a much more subtle feeling. As Nina Simone sang "sleep in peace when day is done, that's what I mean". Walking on the street at night, going back home, absolutely exhausted, but proud and happy. It's a though fight, and you need to fight for every inch. But it's worth it.
